Privacy Policy for Zer0

Effective Date: 01 October 2025 • Formal Architecture Review Update: June 2026

Zer0 (“we,” “our,” “us”) respects the privacy of our users (“you,” “your”) and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information when using our mobile application Zer0 (“the App”). By using Zer0, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue using the App.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide, improve, and secure our services:

a. Account Information

To register, authenticate, and manage your account workspace parameters natively, our systems store:

  • Profile picture (image format payloads)
  • First name and last name
  • Age (processed to explicitly verify users are 13 years or older)
  • Gender profiles (Male, Female, or Other options)
  • Email address, Mobile number, and Country origin metadata
  • Preferred operational language and password parameters

b. Location Information

  • We collect location data when you use services like shopping, in order to recommend nearby stores within a 10-kilometer radius configuration.
  • Location data is collected exclusively while you are actively interacting with these specific platform layers.

c. Microphone & Audio Recordings

Critical Emergency Feature Mapping: When you activate the SOS feature during an attack or send a help request pipeline, the device microphone actively records environmental audio. These recordings are uploaded securely to Firebase nodes and may be leveraged as clear evidence of violence or used to systematically notify ecosystem safety responders.

d. Local Storage Access

  • We access your local device storage structures when you explicitly choose to upload media arrays (images, videos, songs, text files, etc.) for app public publications.
  • We utilize localized device databases (SQLite structures) to temporarily cache and retrieve critical app-related telemetry for execution performance gains and standalone offline access.

2. How We Use Your Information

We leverage the collected records strictly across the following operational purposes:

  • Account creation & login profiles: To securely register, authenticate, and manage your client instances.
  • Personalization adjustments: To customize your layout user experience, including language tracking and smart geolocated store recommendations.
  • Safety & emergency utilities: To activate, process, and manage real-time SOS requests and secure audio evidence database uploads.
  • Shopping & location-based services: To recommend and point out nearby physical stores and items within a defined geographical distance grid.
  • User publications processing: To empower you to seamlessly create, upload, distribute, and manage your original media content streams.
  • Ecosystem Security monitoring: To rapidly detect fraudulent operations, block unauthorized administrative access attempts, and ensure structural user protection.
  • Session life cycle management: To track real-time user sessions for running stability and overall functional execution optimization.

3. Data Sharing Pipelines

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data records with third parties for marketing optimization goals. Your information is strictly shared only with verified core provider nodes:

  • Firebase Infrastructure: Utilized for scalable account storage, background authentication loops, core relational database records, and front-end content hosting.
  • Payment Gateways: Deployed to manage and process clean, secure monetary payment transactions without exposure.
  • Email API Services: Leveraged to instantly dispatch user validation verification codes, password reset sequences, or app notification metrics.

These downstream providers are bound legally by their individual privacy profiles and operate in strict compliance with standard sector safety practices.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is written and stored securely in Firebase instances with strictly governed access control lists (ACLs).
  • Audio recordings extracted during active SOS incidents are permanently saved for secure legal evidence purposes.
  • Sensitive core account identifiers (such as passwords) undergo secure hashing algorithms before being stored on system nodes.
  • Local environment device footprints (via SQLite cache maps) remain localized on your physical hardware partition unless explicitly targeted for upload actions by you.

5. Your Rights

As an active registered Zer0 user, you retain clear ownership and rights over your data profile parameters:

  • Access & Update: You can view, review, and adjust your personal account information directly inside your dashboard settings at any point.
  • Permanent Deletion: You can completely wipe your data histories or erase your account profile permanently from within the app configuration panels.
  • Device Permissions Control: You can deny or turn off system hardware access privileges (e.g., background location, microphone polling, local storage paths) within your device operating system setup. *Note: Particular high-end features like the SOS recorder or maps will fail to function without these permissions active.*
  • Data Consent: By continuing to run and use the Zer0 application, you provide explicit, actionable consent to the data gathering, indexing, and processing models mapped out in this legal policy document.

6. Children’s Privacy & Global Compliance

Zer0 is not intended for children below the minimum age required by the laws that apply to the user. In many jurisdictions, this means users under 13 are prohibited (e.g., United States under COPPA) or parental/guardian consent is required; in the EU, the baseline digital age of consent is 16, but Member States may lower it to no less than 13; in South Africa, POPIA treats a "child" as under 18 and requires appropriate consent or another lawful basis.

Users who are below the minimum age set by their local law must not create an account on Zer0. Where local law permits account creation with parental/guardian consent, such accounts may only be created once verifiable parental/guardian consent has been obtained.

Zer0 will take immediate structural steps to comply with applicable age and consent requirements and will promptly delete data collected from users found to be under the applicable minimum age without valid consent structures. Age-verification methods vary and enforcement is challenging; users must provide true and accurate info details. Zer0 reserves the right to require additional verification checks or to suspend accounts that do not meet local legal requirements.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

Zer0 may contain interactive links to third-party services or websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, code frameworks, tracking methods, or content hosted on external services. Please carefully read and review the privacy policies and legal terms of any third-party asset before interacting with it or choosing to share your records with it.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any structural modifications will be posted directly within the app client interface and refreshed on our website platform, and the “Effective Date” position at the header layer will be updated accordingly. Material updates that change the way we process children’s personal information or that adjust core account-eligibility rules will be communicated clearly to users in-app and by other reasonable means.
